Looks like XenForo have sold out to Internet Brands

Well... Looks like XenForo have reached an agreement with Internet Brands and KAM (Kier) sold out. More agreement talks are talking place, that can only mean one thing really.

Say hello to your new owners - Internet Brands.

Anyway .. don't really care. I have the license, the site works. If IB are smart enough, they'll keep the platform running, if they're not, they'll try to shove that car crash they call VB5

 

Go read XenForo, the court case thread. Further agreement talks are taking place on the 20th Feb now (it wasn't rejected outright on 13th Feb), and this time "KAM + Legal Team" appear to be taking a trip out to Cali.

Sounds like something has been agreed, or is in the works for being so on the 20th Feb.

Even Jake Bunce, he's not sure what to say anymore about it.

Let's say that settlement talk ended up with either XenForo closing or becoming the property of Internet Brands. What do you do now?

Do you move to IPB, Burning Board, or one of the numerous other scripts?

Do you code your own forum software and maybe call it XenForo 2.0?

Do you continue using XenForo and hope someone starts running an unofficial development/support forum?

Keep running it and install whatever updates Internet Brands releases?

What do you do in this situation?

Internet Brands - have money to burn, they are usually involved in multi court cases at once. They just lost the WIKI one, they didn't settle in that for example. They won't be bothered if they lose against XenForo (drop in the ocean for them), what it will cost them. Not same way KAM would be. So I think it's highly unlikely Internet Brands would settle first, it will be XenForo if anyone suiting IB.

They've been trying to make XenForo go bust or settle from the start using delay tactics costing them more money. So to think IB would be the ones who settle in the end, na can't see that one.

 

If this does happen, they should bring back Kier and his team as developers for vBulletin and go from there. It sure will be interesting to see how this all unfolds. Internet brands is probably willing to try anything since a lot of people are disappointed with vBulletin 5.

 

I thought he had a lot of things he didn't like when working with vB because of IB?

So settlement talks are still ongoing. There is no further information about:

• whether one of the parties is yanking the other party's chain. (its not like that has not happened before)
• who may be settling with who.
• if the judge has told one of the parties to quit screwing around with the court.
• if the judge has made any statement on acceptable outcome.

And still you have a firm conclusion. You must have a very good a crystal ball, cause I am not seeing it.

 

Just out of curiosity, what are people wanting an update from XenForo for?

Personally I wish it would update to use a newer version of jQuery and hopefully a new editor, but that's all I'm really looking forward to.

 

Dumb theory is dumb.. IB hasn't put anything solid on the table to even come close to score a victory, let alone any scare tactic to make KAM settle in IB's favor.. I think you've deleted your database too many times if you really think other wise.
