    CPVR is correct. Everyone who signs up to your community is considered a member and serves a purpose/plays a part/role in the community and making it grow and expand. So you should care about them, but if you're running a gaming forum and want to cater mostly to gamers, then definitely advertise more in places that involve that niche, but every member is important and should have their voice be heard. :)

    ++++

    I don't buy posting services, so I'm not sure exactly what you mean. Have you had that type of experience with paid posters in the past? Then, tell us about it.:thumbsup:

    I think he might be referring to services such as PostLoop which pay users to post on forums. They gain points per each post they make on a forum they 'subscribe' to and then they can cash in those points for money. I think the going rate is 5 cents per point or something like that. It's a good way to make some extra cash but the problem is the wrong kinda people are allowed to use the service and you often times get pretty crappy content from users who really don't care much about your forum they just want to get their points from your forum and then leave.

    I know about PostLoop, we use it sometimes here as well. In that case, if someone makes bad posts, you set their post count back to 0, and review their account. Any other problems you bring those up with @Mikey on the PostLoop forums because they care about the quality of the system, but I do agree on what you're saying. Some people like to spam up for points, but they're using caught pretty quick, right?

    Yeah I guess so. I generally give them poor ratings if their posts aren't up to par.

    Its really quite easy to spot spam posters because they are always out of context and rarely quote others since they just read the thread title and immediately reply. There is nothing wrong in posting to get points but at the end of the day you have to contribute positively so you add value to the discussion.

    Someday those that only post in general discussion will either become a gamer or get other people to join. I am a fan of video games, but I don't expect others to be if I have a category called "general discussions".
