I figured i'd ask this on various admin forums I frequent :P

Anyone got any Quality Xen VPS providers that they can recommend I take a look at? Managed is required :D

Liquidweb and Media Temple are two are I am looking at, but i hear mixed things about both companies, so I'd prefer to see if there are any recommendations!

    Much Appreciated!

I've been using servint for quite a while now. The best thing about them is their customer service. They always go the extra mile to help you out. The servers are pretty solid, too.

    Here's their VPS plans: http://www.servint.net/vps.php

    Servint isn't xen :)
They are actually on my radar. I am loving their Solid Fire VPS they recently offered and i am so curious to check them out.

Only thing that bothers me is the lack of a refund policy(I always hate when a host doesn't have one, since it is basically like if they screw up and you want out..you've lost money with them)How long have you been with them if you don't mind me asking? I know Servint does not directly support litespeed which could be an issue for me as I require that

Whoops, guess I missed that bit!
Yeah, I've been wanting to check out the Solid Fire VPS but I don't currently have a need for it.

I guess I've never noticed the refund policy because I've never wanted one :P

I don't mind at all. I've been with them since November 2010. They may not directly support litespeed, but like I mentioned before, their support team always seems to go the extra mile to help if they are able. I guess it just depends on the situation.

Choosing the right host is so difficult these days as there are so many companies that look good only to discover they aren't :D
Servint is one of my top 3 choices as is right now.

My current host is a lovely host and i absolutely love the personal feel(they are nice guys) but after a bit of a situation last week that caused downtime for nearly 24 hours, i lost a days worth of posts(like 300 or so) and i was a bit disappointed with how they handled the situation, I realize that while I love smaller hosts, perhaps i may need to look for something a bit larger.

Thanks so much for the feedback!

That's a very unfortunate situation to be in. Good luck with your host search and glad I could be of some assistance. :)

Just a follow-up, I was indirectly warned away from Liquid web so I am not going with them...I actually went to Site5(they have a One dollar special for the first month on their base 1 GB ram plan so i said what the hell, I'd try them) and it has taken now 4 hours to get an initial response for something as simple as them restoring a back-up.

So I am glad i didn't jump all in and pay $120 for the VPS..I only lost a dollar. I am giving them a few more hours but it is looking like Servint may be the next choice for me....Just hope it won't be a crap choice since they have no refund policy lol. Which location do you host with Servint with?

Wow, that's a long time. I've had Servint restore backups for me on several occasions and I'd be surprised if it wasn't completed within a half hour of me opening the ticket.

As for location, I live in the DC metropolitan area, so that's the location I chose :)

I am predominantly in Connecticut for school at Yale but I live in the NJ/NC area when i am not in school, so for me DC is probably best.

However, now i am once again at a loss...I was warned away from Liquid Web even though i originally planned to go with them only to be warned from Servint...LOL Lord :P

lol someone told you NOT to use servint? Did they give any reasoning? Servint was recommended to me by Anthony Parsons on XenForo.com. I feel his recommendation was just, having used them for about 4 years now. Either way, I hope you're able to find a host you're happy with. :)

Yeah the guy is active at wht, hence what makes the choice harder. But here's what he had to say of Servint

    ServInt

A lot of ServInt customers have been leaving during the past year or two. There have been quite a few complaints about the support quality and time dropping off. I'm not fond of their company attitude, which is why I've never wanted to use them. I see it as a smug frat-boy environment. Several hosting owners have mentioned this to me in private as well. (Hint: Look carefully at everything they write. We, us, our. Not you, the customer!) It's just not the same great hosting company that it once was. I'd avoid that if I were you.

Hmm...if that's the case, then they must really like me. Here's the start and end times of my last four tickets:

    Sat Feb 01 2014 04:20PM
    Sat Feb 01 2014 05:07PM

    Thu Jan 30 2014 12:30PM
    Thu Feb 06 2014 12:33PM

    Fri Jan 24 2014 08:10PM
    Fri Jan 31 2014 08:33PM

    Thu Nov 14 2013 03:32PM
    Thu Nov 14 2013 03:32PM

The first one was when I requested that they move my files from one account to another in my cPanel (this is outside of their scope, but they did it for me anyway).

The second one was an issue with Hotmail. Emails from my server were being rejected. They spent the time to research and showed me how to correct it through hotmail. The times are also spread out because I didn't reply right away.

The third one had to due with issues I was having with memcache after upgrading MySQL. The problem wasn't very obvious, and they got me up and running while they worked out what the issue was.

The final one was an outage on the node my server was sitting on and they had a notice up. This was resolved rather quickly.

I dunno what other customers are experiencing, but this has been my experience and I'm quite satisfied, myself.

I am surprised normally site5 are pretty quick on the support, did you go through live help or did you raise a ticket because 99% of the time the live support takes 2-5 mins tops before they are talking and they sort everything 99% of the time as well, the ticket support dose take a long time but then it's normally much more technical stuff they deal with,I've been using them for a few years with great support from them.

Usually it was tickets. With most companies they prefer the tickets because of the paper trail as well as usually they require you to open a ticket anyway/

The live chat was a better experience though. I really just like how restricted site5 felt.....you cant add stuff like litespeed to your vps
I essentially was paying $1(the first month was a dollar after that it was like 100 plus) for an extreme reseller account

Well im not the sole owner but I do most of the tech there and selling. We do have competitive prices and we offer 8% off all purchases, but stop by if you feel the need to. Were looking into cloud servers later on this week so hopefully we will be able to implement some competitive prices in that aspect also.
