What do you prefer; phpbb or mybb? Why?

Mybb for me because it is better and more flexible.

Okay, well, i own a mybb forum, and i really like it (If only i have IPB xD)
And ive heard that phpbb is better? Is there anyone who can back that up... or tear it down?
I Know hardly anything about phpbb, but am an expert in mybb.
(Could a mod move this to software discussion)

To be honest you are fine with MyBB, there are alot of phpBB fanboys but dont listen to them. I find MyBB much better than phpBB considering how easy it is to install mods, and the large amount of awesome themes and mods. MyBB is much better. phpBB didnt even have a quickreply feature by default. How sad it that?

In the end it all depends on which you prefer.

Hmmmm.... Thats good to know, but "By default" So theres a mod for that?
And compared to installation of mods and themes - which is harder?

Installing mods and themes on phpBB is a big hassle ask anyone specially mods, but MyBB its nothing, I have used both and MyBB is the most friendliest. Mods and theme installing on MyBB is a very easy.

All you really need to do is install phpBB in your host and you'll really find out which one you'll think is better. You don't have to listen to the fanboys from other forums (there is a big one that I'm thinking of at the moment).

It's all about what you think of both options that matters.

MyBB is the way to go
phpBB is a pain you should avoid
One of the reasons I decided to use MyBB is the community. Another reason is installing themes and modifications, because that's just easy with MyBB. With phpBB you need to have 2/3 hours of spare time to install one simple modification.

I really hope phpBB will improve their mods system.

They've already talked about their plugin system in 3.1 (likely you'll still see some kind of file edits afterwards, like in IPB 3.0) and they're making sure there are no file edits in 4.0. Late, but better late than never.

Between Mybb and phpbb, I would have to say that Mybb is the most dominant one in this situation. Mybb does lack somethings that phpbb does have ( huge list of themes, huge list of plugins, etc ), but mybb does have a nice underground community that makes some pretty "mean" plugins and themes. The things I like about mybb is the easy installation of mods/plugins and the community support, but in all honesty they are both good forum softwares.

Both are great software, just madness has to decide which one he prefers and suits him the best.

I would stick with MyBB. It's a very good and reliable software and I think you have a better chance expanding on their software over PhpBB3 unless you've invested a lot of cash into custom designs, trendy domain and etc. This is my own personal opinion but I've never really been a fan of the PhpBB3 themes. They don't look like anything special to me.

I'd say MyBB is the best free forum software. PHPBB kinda sucks.

There are some great themes for phpBB, but yea MyBB is better on SEO, and much better if you use the Google SEO plugin for MyBB.

I have never run a forum on MyBB, but been a staff member on sites with them. I have run sites with PhpBB and both are very good forum systems and it all depends on the person what they like. Each has their pluses and negatives.
