I was just curious as to why this community chose Xenforo over the other forum softwares.

How is it the future? The software is nice and all, but I'm curious.

He got the xenForo first, if I recall correctly. If not, it would've likely been something like a MyBB forum.

Xenforo still hasn't been released yet (1.00 still not out). It uses more modern coding and frameworks which allows them to code faster and introduce new features, most of the style designers for VB and IPB are moving to Xenforo, and many modders from VB are moving to XF.

I wouldn't say they are the future. I use IPB but you have to be unbiased here... vBulletin is still the leading software.

I'm a vb license holder, and if you knew what was going on in the licensed sales threads, you would not be so sure. Just because the meta tags reads "Most powerful" does not make it so. You can type anything you want in those meta tags, remember?

I didn't base my statement off of anything I read off of the vBulletin website. I'm just saying, as of right now, they are the leading paid forum software.

OK guys, this is not a topic to debate which paid forum software is the best and why you should choose it, etc. As such I'm going to lock it and Kaiser can come on and explain why he choose Xenforo over other software when he gets back.

I chose Xenforo as it was the newest on the market and already had great reviews. It stood out from other scripts, and was futuristic to me in a way, kinda like a social networking bulletin board in a way with all these facebook type features. I knew it would make adminbb stand out from its competitors which it did. Thats why I chose it. Seeing AdminBB in action other forums have gone with xenforo,

I like XF but the type of site I run and maintain, I dont think XF would've been the best choice. However, I will be using it for a support forum I will be launching sometime in the future :)

I have an IPB license and I recently bought xF for my second website that is in the works. I can confidently say that xF cannot currently meet the needs of my IPB forum, however it is perfect for the second site I am working on. I think xF was a good choice for adminbb, it seems to meet the needs of the forum and the community and that is what matters most. Cheers.

Yea very true. I guess the thing about xenforo thats keeping people from switching yet is the low amount of mods, and themes but that is slowly changing,

I probably would have chosen XenForo over IPBoard for my two forums had I started them when XF existed, but right now I see no reason to convert since I've already paid for IPB and a few addons.

I love both IPB and xF. IPB will always be used for larger projects but xF will always be used when I need lightning fast forum software with more social integration.

Just for future purposes letting you know that they are working on a IPB converter.
Well to me xenforo is light, and has much more out of the box than any other forum software. I like IPB too, I hate vbulletin.

If you can get what you want done, then what's the difference between whatever XenForo has and what vBulletin.org has? I personally have everything I want and then some on all my forums, let alone XenForo.

XenForo is the future of forum software. It makes members always coming back, it is new, it is light, it connects social networking perfectly and by default, and the coding is very nice. Only downside is lack of mods, but that will change.

    Great choice.
